About this role.

As a Field Service Engineer, you are responsible for installing, maintaining, and optimizing industrial machines and automation systems at customer sites. You work on a wide range of installations and ensure that systems remain reliable, safe, and efficient.

At iAUTOMATION, we work for clients in industries such as pharmaceuticals, energy, chemicals, and food production. You will visit various locations where you carry out installations, maintenance, upgrades, and service activities.

In this role, you work largely independently, but you are never on your own. You collaborate with fellow engineers and can always discuss technical challenges or solutions. You will frequently travel to customers within the Netherlands and occasionally internationally, making the work varied and hands-on.

What will you do?

In this position, you are responsible for installing, testing, and commissioning machines, systems, and automation solutions. You ensure that everything operates optimally and meets the required standards.

You perform both preventive and corrective maintenance and act as the point of contact during on-site issues. You analyze problems thoroughly and provide effective solutions to quickly restore operations.

You carry out inspections, calibrations, and safety checks, ensuring installations comply with applicable standards. You also support and instruct customers in using the systems, enabling them to operate independently and efficiently.

You carefully document your work and findings in reports and actively contribute ideas for technical improvements and optimizations. In addition, you support service projects, upgrades, and modifications, where your technical insight is highly valuable.

What does the role offer?

We offer a competitive salary aligned with your experience and expertise. You will be provided with a service van or a suitable mobility allowance, as well as a laptop, phone, and all necessary tools to perform your job effectively.

You will receive additional allowances for travel time, on-call duties, and overtime. We also invest in your development through various training opportunities, such as PLC training, VCA, NEN, and other technical certifications.

You will join a varied role with a high level of independence and responsibility, within a technical team where collaboration and knowledge sharing are key.

What knowledge and experience do we ask for?

We are looking for motivated engineers with a passion for IT and industrial automation. Do you have an MBO-4 or HBO degree, for example in:

  • Electrical Engineering
  • Mechatronics
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Industrial Automation
  • or a comparable field

Experience with maintenance, machine building, or industrial technology is a plus. Basic knowledge of PLC systems such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or similar is an advantage.

You have an understanding of electrical schematics and mechanical components, enabling you to quickly grasp how systems are built and operate. You are willing to travel within the Netherlands and occasionally internationally.

You work independently, think in solutions, and have a practical mindset. At the same time, you are customer-focused and communicate clearly with both colleagues and clients. Finally, you are flexible and have a good command of both Dutch and English.
